Privacy policy

The short version: the apps collect nothing and send nothing. This website counts pageviews using our own cookieless software that never stores your IP address. The detail is below.

Summary

The desktop applications collect no data and make no network requests of their own — that is unchanged. This website counts pageviews with our own cookieless analytics: no third parties, no advertising, and your IP address is never stored.

1. Who we are

Mudry Studio (“Mudry”, “we”) develops and distributes desktop software for Windows and operates the website at https://mudry-studio.netlify.app. For any privacy question, contact romanmodrytskyi@gmail.com.

2. Our desktop applications

Our applications do not transmit telemetry, usage statistics, crash reports, diagnostic information or update pings. There is no analytics SDK and no reporting endpoint of any kind.

The one exception is not ours: where an app offers an optional Pro upgrade, the purchase and its licence check are handled by the Microsoft Store, using Microsoft’s own systems and privacy policy. We receive no personal information from that process — only whether the current machine holds a licence.

All data an application processes — file names, folder structures, settings, history — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it. Uninstalling an application removes its settings from your machine.

You do not need to take our word for this. A firewall configured to log blocked connections will show no outbound traffic from our applications themselves.

3. This website

We count pageviews so we know which articles are worth writing more of. It is our own software, running on our own server, and it stores no personal data:

  • No cookies, and nothing stored in your browser for analytics. Nothing to consent to, so we do not ask.
  • Your IP address is never stored. It is combined with your browser’s user-agent string and a secret that changes every day, then hashed. The result cannot be reversed into an IP address, and because the secret rotates daily it cannot be used to recognise you tomorrow.
  • No third parties. No Google Analytics, no advertising or tracking scripts, and no data shared with anyone. The figures exist in one database that we run.
  • Referrers are reduced to a hostname. We record that you arrived from, say, google.com — never the full address, which can contain the words you searched for.
  • Do Not Track is honoured. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing at all is recorded.

What this produces is a count of pages and visits. It cannot answer who you are, and we could not tell you even if asked.

We run no advertising scripts and set no advertising cookies.

A single functional preference — your light or dark theme choice — is stored in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your browser and is not readable by us.

Our hosting provider processes standard server request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) as a necessary part of serving the site securely. These logs are used only for security and reliability, are not used to build profiles, and are retained for a short period.

4. Information you choose to send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix the problem you reported. We do not add you to any list without your explicit request.

If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are stored in our database so the message is not lost, and so we can find it again when replying. This is the only place on this site that holds personal information, and it holds exactly what you typed — nothing is inferred, enriched or shared. Ask us to delete a message and we will.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address for that purpose alone. Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address.

5. Third parties

We distribute our applications through the Microsoft Store. When you download from the Store, Microsoft processes that transaction under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. We receive only aggregate, anonymous download counts from Microsoft — never information about individual users.

Optional in-app purchases (the Pro upgrade) are likewise processed entirely by Microsoft. We never see your payment details, billing address or Microsoft account — only whether a licence is present on the device.

We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone. There is no advertising relationship and no data broker involved at any point.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold almost nothing — at most an email address you gave us — these requests are usually straightforward.

Email romanmodrytskyi@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Children

Our software is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since we collect no personal information through our applications at all, this is largely academic.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in our changelog. We will not retroactively reduce the protections described here for data already collected.
