What AppFreeze does
AppFreeze notices what you opened and quietly steps every other app down a gear — then puts it all back the moment you are done.
Profiles that trigger themselves
Launch Blender and the Rendering profile activates. Launch Visual Studio and it switches to Development. You set the rules once; after that there is nothing to press.
Protects, rather than cleans
The app you are actually using is shielded. Everything that is merely open — a browser with forty tabs, a music player, a chat client — steps down a priority so the foreground gets the room.
Everything is restored
A snapshot is taken before anything changes, and the moment the session ends every priority and power state goes back to what it was. AppFreeze never leaves your system in a modified state.
Lives in the tray
Starts with Windows, sits in the notification area, and shows what it is doing at a glance: Watching, Optimising, or the profile currently running. You will rarely open the main window.
Battery-aware on laptops
Background apps can be moved to the efficiency cores using Windows' own EcoQoS scheduling, which means less heat and longer runtime on the same work.
A safety layer that refuses
System processes, security software, drivers and anything you mark protected are never touched. Every action passes a check first, and a failed check skips rather than guesses.
How it works
Four steps, about a minute
Step 1: It scans what you have installed
On first run AppFreeze looks at your applications and suggests profiles that fit — Rendering, Development, Gaming — rather than handing you an empty rules table.
Step 2: You say what matters
For each profile, mark what must be protected and what can wait. Most people are done in a couple of minutes and never revisit it.
Step 3: You just work
Open the app you were going to open anyway. AppFreeze recognises it, applies the profile, and gets out of the way.
Step 4: It puts everything back
Close the app and the session ends: every priority, every power state, restored to the value it had before. Nothing is left changed.
